Another week of school - which is going well. We did a lot of the usual stuff, but we also spent some time cleaning up the house (we do fall cleaning, as well as spring cleaning). And we had a visitor this week: Bob came to stay with us for a night.
Mom only managed to finish one puzzle this week - she was working hard cleaning every day.
Doing school - I don't usually use two laptops at once....
Food Lab: Blueberry Muffins
First: mise-en-place
Ready to scoop.
All done - and they are delicious!
We also made some signs for the NO KINGS protest on Saturday.
And I did some cleaning, too. I did all of my LEGO and helped Mom with some other dusting.
Cleaning up the LEGO in the dining room.
Working on the dusting the book shelf.
Saturday we went to the park for the protest. There were a lot of people there - an even bigger turnout than the last one.
Our signs in action - Mom's "Worst Sequel Ever" was the most popular - lots of people wanted pictures of it.
One of my favorite protestors.
A crowd shot - there were about 1,400 people at the park with us.
Freya and Kara were out in their town, too.
Sunday we finished getting ready for Bob's visit by making some tasty things to eat. Mom and I made apple pie and more blueberry muffins. And Dad wanted some chocolate chip cookies, so Mom made those, too. And she also made mashed potatoes and fresh from scratch biscuits, hamburger gravy for Bob, and the mushy peas. It was a lot. Mom is amazing.
Food Lab: Apple Pie (again)
Seasoning the apples while they cook.
Rolling dough.
Finishing the crust.
Pie, muffins, and cookies (Mom made the cookies).
Sunday afternoon Bob came to stay for the night. He hasn't been to our house since 2022.
Talking after supper.
We had mushy peas with supper - which was technically a Food Lab, but they were pretty easy.
Watching a show and having a laugh.
Me, Bob, and Dad the last time he was here.
And from this visit.
This week I was still reading Henry V by Dan Jones, and listening to To Kill a Mockingbird with Dad.
Our film viewing for the week was a documentary called She's Beautiful When She's Angry, about the women's rights movement. For television, we finished Sherlock and started Battlestar Galactica (the one from 2004). The end of Sherlock was amazing - such a great end to the series. And I loved Battlestar Galactica from the beginning. Looking forward to watching the rest of it. We also watched Parts Unknown: Copenhagen, which was about Noma, the best restaurant in the world.
And that was my week - take care!
