Another busy week! Monday was the quiet day, as we just did school.
Tuesday
We did school as usual and went to Farmer's Park for the last day it was open for the year. Jonathan, Nick, Phoebe, Kellan, and Annika were all there.

Wednesday
Pie day! After watching Alton Brown make some pies and tarts on Good Eats, it was time for me to make apple pie. Mom helped, of course, but I did most of the work, aside from cutting up the apples.
Making dough
Cooking the apples.
Rolling the dough.
In the oven...
All done!
And then we had to wait until after supper to eat it. Dad and I went to get some ice cream because you have to have ice cream with pie. It was delicious!
Time to eat it!
Thursday
Another mostly quiet day. Mom and I did school, Dad and I worked on one of my writing projects, and we all watched the second episode of Rebels with Michael Livingston - this one was on Owain Glyndwr, who almost overthrew Henry IV. I was super excited because I saw that Harlech Castle is in the introduction to the show and I was guessing one of the episodes would be about the Welsh rebellion that Henry's IV and V dealt with - and I was right!
Mom finished another puzzle - but one piece was missing!
Friday
A big day. Dad and I did our usual morning stuff and then we worked on finishing my paper on Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. Then we walked over to see Beans and for me to get a haircut. And then it was time to drive to Freya's to watch Zelda for the weekend. We stopped to pick out some new glasses on the way, and we went to the LEGO Store and filled four boxes from the Pick-A-Brick wall (sorry, no pictures of shopping for glasses and LEGO). Then we went to see Zelda.
Visting with Beans.
A donut for the road.
Zelda!
We played with Zelda for a while, and then Mom stayed behind while Dad and I went to the BAM closest to Freya's house to visit with the guys. Blake, Spencer, and Dalton we all there. I talked so much I ran out of time to pick out some minifigs - we had to leave to pick up our supper: pizza!
Talking to Spencer at BAM.
Watching a movie with Zelda.
Saturday
In the morning we took Zelda to the dog park. There were a couple of other dogs there, but Zelda did not seem to want to play with them for very long. So we went exploring on foot to try to tire her out. Our adventure walk led us down to the river, which was really nice. It was a beautiful morning.
Zelda at the dog park.
Time to explore!
We found this cool mural.
And then this little waterfall (lower left), and a trail following the creek...
The trail led to a park next to the river.
Zelda liked the sand.
We were supposed to go to the conservatory for a botany field trip, but there were so many events going on in the area and the parking lots were full...so we just decided to skip it and went to our first BAM of the day. I bought some minifigs, but none of the guys there were very talkative, so we didn't stay long. From there we went to the game store and looked around.
Mom found a book on the Portuguese Age of Discovery! Which I bought.
And then we went to another BAM.... This one was lots of fun, because Elliot and Daniel were both working and they are both enthusiastic LEGO collectors.
Shields of classic LEGO knights factions - Elliot actually makes these himself.
All the big Ninjago sets in one place!
Visiting with Daniel and Elliot.
Discussing Star Wars with Daniel.
After BAM, we went into the city to the bookstore Mom and Dad went to on their first date. We never made it out of the history section. We found a lot of good books, but I only bought one: 1415: Henry V's Year of Glory.
Buying a book all about Henry V in 1415 - it covers what was happening almost every day of the year!
Mom and Dad. And my book.
We went back to the house for a bit and played with Zelda. Then Dad and I went back to the nearby BAM to visit some more. And this time I found some minifigs to buy. When we got back to the house, Dad took Zelda for a long walk, and then we all watched Sherlock.
Back to BAM to visit with Spencer and Dalton.
Zelda enjoying some puppy ice cream.
Visiting with Zelda.
Sunday
Once the sun was up, Dad and I took Zelda for a walk down to the bridge over the river and then back through the neighborhood. Then we packed up and went to see Great-grandma Muriel.
Out for a morning walk.
At the Lock and Dam.
Telling Muriel about the Portuguese Age of Discovery.
After we left Muriel's, we headed home. We stopped at two BAMs on the way, but there was nothing I wanted to buy - except one minifig that was too expensive.
Nothing I wanted at this BAM.
It was real windy and we saw this tumbleweed go rolling across the intersection. It did have the green light....
We got home in the middle of the afternoon, so there was plenty of time to unpack and add my new minifigs to my displays.
This week for movies we watched: Capitalism: A Love Story by Michael Moore; Smoke Signals, the film version of Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven; and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. For shows, we watched: Sherlock (finished season one and started season two); Parts Unknown: The Congo and Rebels: Owain Glyndwr.
This week was a little break from reading because I was working on a paper for Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven and a character study of Sherlock Holmes. Dad and I read some of Discipline Is Destiny for philosophy class, and we started listening to Sissy Spacek read To Kill a Mockingbird in car while we drove around over the weekend.
And that was my week. Take care!
P.S. I love to talk about history, so if you have any questions about the past, ask me the next time you talk to me.
