Vikings!

2025-11-02

I had the past week off of school, for three reasons. One, I had appointments three days in a row in the mornings that really messed up my schedule; two, we were all ready to take a week off from doing school; and three, we were actually a week ahead of schedule, so it wasn't even a problem to take a week off. So we did. Mom used the time to change up my cooking class and my food labs, planning out the rest of this year and the rest of high school. Basically, I am getting a meat-free version of culinary school.

After my first appointment on Monday I worked on my history project. On Tuesday after my appointment we went to see GG and Grandpa Kevin. And then we went to stay Grandma Wynne for a couple of nights.

Wednesday morning I went to the orthodontist, and then we went to see Diane and Angel.

Angel

Diane and me.

Then we went to take Lily for a walk before we left to pick our free bricks for the month at BAM.

Our Founder's Minifigs are finally up!

Me with my bag of LEGO and Grandma Wynne.

Snuggling Lily.

Out for another walk.

One last picture before we head home.

Friday was Halloween - but no costumes or trick-or-treating for us. We stayed inside and watched Battlestar Galactica.

Mom made chili and cornbread! Yum!

Freya went as Princess Zelda and Zelda the dog went as a pumpkin.

Kara was a suffragette.

Saturday was Vikings Day at Castlerock!

Excited to meet the Vikings!

Trying on a Norman helmet and holding a spear.

Not a Viking sword, but still cool!

Mom tried the helmet, too. It doesn't really go with her scarf.

Now I've got a shield and sword and helmet.

Lee gave me some instruction on being a spearman.

Attack!

The food demonstration was really interesting - especially when the guy took a bite out of the fish we all thought was fake.

GG and Grandpa Kevin came! I showed them all my favorites in the museum.

Waiting for the arms and armor presentation to start. Jill, Kellan, and Sam also were there for the Vikings.

Who are these people?

Grandpa Kevin and GG dressed up.

Jaime and Patrick giving the presentation.

Talking after the presentation.

Outside saying goodbye to GG and Grandpa Kevin.

One last talk - on battle tactics!

We stayed at the museum until the docents kicked us out at closing time. I liked sharing the museum with GG and Grandpa Kevin, and talking to Jaime, Patrick, and Lee about Vikings.

On Sunday we went to see Jonathan and Nick at the park. It was a little cold, but we ran around enough to keep warm.

I brought my lightsaber collection to play with.

Even though I had the week off from class, I was still reading Henry V, and I finished it. Dad and I took a break from listening together, but we did watch a bunch of videos about To Kill a Mockingbird to get ready for me to write my paper on it.

For viewing this week, we had the videos I mentioned above, a few episodes of Battlestar Galactica, some Big Bang Theory, and the film version of To Kill a Mockingbird - which I loved. It is such a good film! Everyone should go watch it!

And that was my week. Take care!
