Another busy week, full of learning and doing! Mom and I did school everyday as usual. Dad and I rode our bikes and walked in the mornings.
Monday was another food lab - I made scrambled eggs and Mom and Dad agreed they were fluffy and tasty.
Tuesday's big news was the arrival of my new LEGO set...
The Black Pearl - or as LEGO foolishly insists on calling it "Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship."
Thursday we went to the park with Jonathan, Nick, and Nick's dog Phoebe.
Walking Phoebe.
Boyz in the Creek
Friday was building day: time to put the Black Pearl together!
Downloading instructions.
All laid out.
All done.
On display.
In it's new home.
On Saturday morning we all walked to the farmer's market and talked to some people we hadn't seen in a while. Mom and Dad went to get more gorceries after we got home. While they were out, a piece of the Black Pearl fell off and got caught in the mechanism that makes the cannons come out. Mom and Dad worked on finding it for a while and eventually tore off some big chunks of the ship before they located the problem. I was worried it was not going to work, but it all went back together and the cannons worked again. In the afternoon, Anthony came over to play video games. We had a little trouble getting the game loaded on the XBOX, but then we had a lot of fun.
Mostly we use the game to fight or make the characters do silly things.
Sunday was kind of a work day. Dad and I went on a bike ride, then we fixed a screen, I mowed the lawn, learned how to use the air compressor, and then I helped make supper.
Working on the screen.
All done!
Mowing
After a little break it was time for my next food lab: biscuits!
Making biscuits!
Cutting the biscuits out.
In the oven and then wait....
They look amazing - and taste better!
This is what we had for supper - I helped make mashed potatoes again.
And for those of you keeping score, here are Mom's puzzles for the week:
This week I have been reading Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist-Fight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie. Dad and I have been listening to more Sherlock Holmes - we heard "A Scandal in Bohemia," "The Red-Headed League," "The Man With the Twisted Lip," "The Adventure of the Speckled Band," and "The Final Problem." Of the stories, my favorite was "The Man With the Twisted Lip." And on Sunday we started the novel The Hound of the Baskervilles.
This week's viewing was: Crip Camp, a documentary about a camp for handicapped kids in the early 70s - and the campers who went on to get the Americans with Disabilities Act passed; The Botany of Desire, a documentary about our relationship with four types of plants; and an episode of Anthony Bourdain's show where he goes to Quebec.
For movies we watched What About Bob?, Labyrinth, and My Girl. They were all good, but What ABout Bob? was my favorite.
And that was it for the week. Take care!
