Sledding and Funeral

2022-12-18

This week we did so much. Mom made mountains of dough and batter and then turned it all into so many delicious cookies and cheesecakes - and she still did school with me and we still went to recess. I also did some snow removal with Dad, I got my ears vacuumed out, and saw Santa Orrey again. So there was a lot going on.

Moving snow again on Thursday.

And Thursday was a snow day. I went sledding for recess. Which I haven't done since I broke my leg the first time, the week before my 6th birthday. It was so much fun! Mom even tried it. We will definitely go again soon.

Time for sledding at Recess!

Beautiful day in the woods.

Good turnout on a snow day!

First time sledding since I broke my leg.

Mom decided to have a go...

Mom spent all day Friday baking cookies and cheesecakes. And by all day I mean 12 whole hours. Dad helped, too. He folded boxes. I played Zelda and read a book about Rachel Carson.

Saturday morning we packed up all the food (it barely fit in the car), and went to Great-grandpa Eldon's funeral. It was cold and windy and the roads were icy - but we made it with time to spare. I played with Freya while Mom, Kara, and Liza plated the food we brought. We have pictures of all the cheesecakes so you can be jealous about what we got to eat after the service.

Dad and Josh were pallbearers. which was a new thing I learned about. After the church service we went to the cemetery. The service there was very short due to the cold, the wind, and the blowing snow. While we were there, Freya and I left flowers on Grandpa Joe's grave.

Then we went back to the church for visiting and trying all the delicious things Mom made.

Kara wanted to do a silly one.

I also wanted to take a funny one.

The road was better on the way home, and our trip was shorter. But it was still a long time in the car. On Sunday we stayed home and relaxed - no one wanted to get in the car again.

And that was my week. Take care and stay warm!
