Summer's End

2022-09-04

This was the last week of summer. Appropriately, I got my state tests results back...and I tested at grade level or above in EVERY subject! In some things, like history and geography, I tested several grades higher than where I am. Mom and Dad and everyone else were really proud of me. It feels good to see all my hard work pay off. And I got some rewards in the form of LEGO, too!

I spent most of the week with my grandparents, both sets, visting, watching fun stuff, going to the dog park, and playing with LEGO. I also went to another car show. Mom came to get me on Friday. We met Kara, Freya, and GG for lunch, and we finally gave Freya her birthday presents (which had been delayed by Dad being hurt, then by Freya being sick for a few days).

Me, Freya, and GG.

On Saturday we went to see my friend Anthony play the drums. It was really cool to see him play, but it was LOUD! After the drumming, he came over to our house and we played with LEGO and video games for a couple hours.

On Sunday, Kara, Josh, and Freya set up her gerbil habitat and then went to get her new furry friends. She named them Thor and Loki, and I will ask her to send me a picture of them for next week's post.

Mom did some garden clean-up and ran the trimmer in the places the mower won't go. Our neighbors have been very nice and mowed our lawn the past few weeks - without us even asking them. It is nice to live by such generous people.

With school starting this week, we are going to try doing Homeschool Recess three days a week. Mom let some other homeschoolers know we will be at different parks in town on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for free play outside. We are hoping a bunch of other kids can come. We have a selection of outside toys to play with.

Enough to keep a few kids occupied.

And finally, a few weeks ago after our quarrantine for COVID, we stopped at IKEA and bought a bunch of shelves for the LEGO. Dad and I managed to put them together before his back and leg were hurting too bad for him to move around, but we never took any pictures. So here are some shots of what the LEGO room looks like now - although it is always a work in progress.

My Hoth battle scene from Empire Strikes Back.

More sets, Star Wars, LEGO CITY, and NINJAGO.

Star Wars ships and my Viking Ship on the bottom, with the Midgard Serpent.

And my castle sets. Hoping to add the Lion Knight's Castle someday.

And that was my week. School starts Tuesday! Take care!
