Halloween

2021-10-31

After a lot of debate and trying to think of ways to incorporate the wheelchair, we decided on a costume that I could have fun with even if it wasn't Halloween: a Roman soldier.

Trying on my costume.

Buying a shield was ridiculously expensive, so Mom made me one out of duct tape and cardboard.

My shield, under construction.

On Saturday morning we went to GG and Grandpa Kevin's - Kara, Josh, and Freya all came down as well. The weather was beautiful, and it was warm enough in the sunshine to be comfortable outside. We ate candy, got some presents, had lunch, and played around for a couple of hours. Lots of fun.

You can see the shield turned out great! Thanks, Mom!

We also went to see Grandpa Al and Grandma Wynne - Freya, Josh, and Kara came over, too. They wanted to see the new house and show off Freya's costume. We trick-or-treated at a couple of the neighbor's houses and played with Loki.

Mom and Freya put on the pink unicorn costumes and Josh got back into the T-rex.

Making a scene on the street.

After Kara, Josh, and Freya left, we took Loki to the dog park. Dad was not happy about having to push the wheelchair through the grass and up a hill while avoiding dog poop - but he did it anyway. I got to see some dogs I knew, and some new ones, too.

Meeting Atlas, the Malamute pup. Mommy said he looks just like Duke did as a puppy.

We left for home from the dog park.

Sunday was Halloween. We spent the day doing the usual stuff, but then we got dressed up and went trick-or-treating. We went to a dozen or so houses before making it to our friend Diane's house. She had the movie projector up and a fire going. We stayed there for a little while and handed out treats to kids, until it got completely dark. Then we went knocking on doors again with Rebecca, who was there for the night as well. We found out one of our neighbors loves the Romans like I do! And he has a nice dog, too. It was a lot of fun, even if my feet did get really cold sitting in the chair outside for so long.

Mom borrowed the unicorn costume. Here she is dancing on the corner.

At Diane's with Lucy - she looked so cute in her sombrero.

Back home, warming up, and sampling my loot.

And that was a much more exciting week than the last one, right? Next week should be good as well, since I am supposed to get my cast off.

Take care!
