I'm a little light on pictures this week. Mom and Dad had a big garage sale and they didn't have time to take pictures. Auntie Kara took some, but she started to get sick while she was at my house helping and hasn't been feeling well enough to send the pictures yet. So we'll make do with a smaller selection than usual.
Auntie Kara and Grandma Wynne came to my house on Thursday to help with the sale and to take care of me. I had lots of fun playing with them before all the work started.
Friday morning I slept in. Mommy, Auntie Kara, and Daddy all were outside by 3:00 AM setting up tables and displaying merchandise. We had a lot of stuff on our sale. People were waiting to shop by the time the sale started at 7:00 AM. I was still asleep. Business was brisk, as was the weather - and it got better as the sun came out. The first day of the sale went really well, and we stayed open late rather than chase people away.
While Mommy and Daddy were working the sale, I ate lunch at my own little table that Grandma Wynne set up for me.
At my own little table.
Yum. I love peanut butter.
Saturday morning I woke up a little after midnight, and Daddy held me for a while until I went back to sleep. Then he heard the wind howling outside. He also heard the tarps we used to cover the garage sale tables rustling, so he went outside to check on them. The wind was blowing so hard the tarps were sliding out from under the bricks Daddy used to weigh them down. So he fixed them in the cold and the rain, and came back in soaked. Or so he says. Everyone else was sleeping.
Saturday morning was not so good for the sale. The wind was blowing, the rain fell off and on, and it was cold. Only a few people showed up during the first two hours, but then the sun came out and business picked up. We did okay on the second day.
And I had lots of visitors during the sale. Mommy's friend Nancy came to see me, and so did Ann, Daddy's former boss at the library. Grandpa Kevin came to help with the sale, and he took me for two walks! And Great-grandma Muriel and Aunt Nancy surprised everyone by showing up on Saturday morning.
Daddy and I went to Grandpa Al and Grandma Wynne's house on Saturday night after the sale so Mommy could have some time to rest, and so we could bring Duke home. And Saturday was Grandma and Grandpa's 39th anniversary! We were too tired to go do anything to celebrate, so we'll have to make a bigger deal of it next year.
Sunday morning I went to see Great-grandma Dorothy with Daddy. She was watching Brandi, which is cousin Pete's dog. Brandi wasn't to sure about me, but we did manage to get a picture.
Me, Great-grandma Dorothy, and Brandi.
After Great-grandma's house, we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's for lunch and a nap. Auntie Diane came to see me for a little while Daddy was taking his nap. Later I went to the toy store with Daddy, Grandma Wynne, and Grandpa Al. Daddy bought me a new puzzle and a LEGO storybook. After the store, we went to Noodles for supper.
And then (I'm getting tired just telling you about all of this) we went to see Sebastian and Rhonda and Xander and Tennyson and Urizen on our way home. We even brought Duke so the boys could see him. Duke was very interested in their cats, Conan and Chiara. I got to play on their slide and their trampoline - it was great fun!
Finally, Daddy took me home. I slept all the way, slept going into the house, and slept while Daddy and Mommy changed me into my pjs. What a day....
And that was about it for last week.
Now for some news about the blog:
For the first two weeks of October Daddy is going to go help uncle Bob with the sugar beet harvest. Last year we missed two weeks with the blog while Daddy was gone, but we have some backlog pictures this year and we are going to try to do some posts ahead of time and schedule them to appear on the two Mondays he is gone. So those two weeks will be like a "deleted scenes" from the last two weeks, and then we'll catch up on the time Daddy was away. You won't have to miss me this year!
Take care everyone!
