School started this week.

See previous first day pictures here.

I am doing a lot for school this year. Mom planned everything: she created fourteen syllabi and scheduled every day of the year to be sure we can get it all done. If you're curious, this is the one-page summary of what I will be learning.

Here is the plan.

Some of my work laid out for the day.

My early morning work.

Early morning bike ride for gym class.

This week also I got a phone. It's a flip phone - nothing at all like calling people on my iPad, but I am getting used to it. Mostly it is for emergencies or when I am home alone.

My first phone.

First time calling someone (I chose to call Kara).

Mom got a new toy this week: a puzzle table. It spins and has trays for pieces - this way it is easy to pick the puzzle up and move it.

Mom is puzzling again....

All done.

Starting a new one.

Mom and Dad walked to the farmer's market on Saturday. They picked up some donuts and bread.

Fresh sourdough donuts! Delicious!

Sunday morning was really foggy for our bike ride.

One of the biggest churches in our town.

Also on Sunday morning, Dad drove up to stay with Bob for a few days and help out with some projects.

All of Trevor's machinery lined up, waiting for the canola to be ready.

This week Dad and I finished Watership Down and worked on my report about it. For the new school year, I started reading The Giver. I wasn't so sure about it at first because it seemed weird, but now I really like it. Dad and I started listening to Sherlock Holmes stories, beginning with A Study in Scarlet.

For screen time we watched Michael Pollan's four-part documentary, Cooked. We all liked it, especially the episode about bread. We also watched some Big Bang Theory. And we started listening to music at night - as part of school. This week was getting introduced to some classical music. My favorite piece was "Mars" from The Planets by Gustav Holst. It sounds a lot like the Imperial March from Star Wars.

That was my week. Take Care!
