To The Farm

2024-08-18

This week I finished up my swimming lessons.

Using the diving board.

Swimming across the pool.

I also did a couple of LEGO projects.

"And I thought they smelled bad on the outside!"

"Mind tricks don't work on me. Only money."

And then on Wednesday we went up to see Bob for a few days.

Saying goodbye to Mom.

Donut break on the road.

We found another independent LEGO shop.

They had a two Titanics.

And a Rivendell.

So many pirates and castle sets!

Some sidewalk art.

Here's the outside of the store.

As soon as we got to Bob's we were out the door again. Trevor was in the field harvesting wheat, but rain was coming. If I wanted to ride in the combine, I had to get out there fast. As it turns out, I got to ride for about an hour and a half...and that was it. Over two inches of rain fell over the next day, so it was too wet to get back in the field before it was time for us to leave.

We had a day indoors with all of the rain. Dad worked on some stuff around the house for Bob, and I worked on some journaling and reading. We did take the golf cart out during a lull in the rain, but it started up again while were out and we got soaked.

On Friday the weather was better. We spent a lot of time out in the golf cart driving around town - I got a lot of practice in.

Out in the cart, prowling the streets.

And Bob let us take his new car for a spin.

Okay. Enough teasing. Here's the car.

It's a C8 Corvette Z06, if you're wondering.

This is how the roof works.

Once we had our fun, we washed the car. I also washed the golf cart, since we had managed to get that fairly dirty driving through puddles and on wet gravel.

After everything was cleaned up and put away, we went for a boat ride.

On the river with Captain Bob.

I got to steer the boat!

Saturday we spent time in the golf cart again, driving all over town. We went to look at the farm buildings, and saw Trevor's trucks in the shed.

We went down to where the dam used to be.

We also helped Bob change a tank on his lawn sprayer.

Bob left with some friends in the afternoon to go to a concert, so we were on our own at the house for the rest of the day. We read a little, and worked on packing up our stuff for the trip home on Sunday.

Dad got this cool shot of the moon before he went to bed.

Sunday morning we had some breakfast, finished packing up, and were on the road by 8.

A nice sunrise, courtesy of the smoke that was rolling in from the north.

The drive home was uneventful. We listened to Vinyl Cafe stories all the way. We stopped once for gas, and once to stretch our legs...until we got to Grandma Wynne and Grandpa Al's, that is. We were trying to get there in time for Diane's birthday party, but we missed her and only got to see everyone else for a few minutes. We did get some cake, though! And then we finished our trip home. It was a long day in the car. Mom was happy to see us - and we were happy to see her!

And that was my week. Take care!
