COVID Again

2023-03-19

As you may recall, last week we left off with Mom's positive COVID test. Somehow I did not get it again, and somehow Dad managed to avoid it for the third time.

Dad stayed home to take care of Mom and to do some learning with me. We worked on math and grammar, and a little bit of history. We also started using a program to build LEGO on the computer, and that was really fun. We also had some more snow to take care of.

Chopping snow off the garage.

Some cool icicles outside my window.

Of course, while all this was going on, Mom was not getting better. She went to urgent care on Sunday when she tested positive, then again on Tuesday because she was feeling worse and she was dehydrated. Grandpa Al came to get me Thursday morning and then Dad took Mom to the ER.

At the ER, Mom was dehydrated again, and a CT scan showed she had inflamed intestines. So she was admitted. But Mom and Dad had to wait in the ER for another seven hours to get into a room upstairs. Normally visitors are not allowed to spend the night in a COVID room, but they let Dad stay Thursday night because it was late and there was freezing rain and snow.

So I didn't get all the details of the hospital stay, but I guess Mom was better enough by Sunday that the doctors let her go home. Dad wanted her to stay longer, but he said hospitals don't work like they used to.

Dad brought Mom some flowers after they got home.

While I was at Grandma Wynne and Grandpa Al's I watched cartoons, built LEGO, and talked to my friend Jonathan on FaceTime every day. I also watched Born Free a few times. Kara and Freya came down on Saturday afternoon to see me, and they stayed for pizza. I went to the dog park on Sunday to see all my furry friends.

As of Sunday night, Mom is doing better, but not great. She says it will be awhile before things are back to normal. I'm going to stay with Grandma and Grandpa a few more days so Mom can get some more rest.

And that was our week. Take care!
