We Named The Dog Indiana

2020-07-12

So...we have a new member of the family: his name is Indiana, but we call him Indy!

Usually at this time of year we would go on an adventure to celebrate Mommy's birthday, but with the pandemic going on, we stayed home. And then we got a dog, so that kind of became the big story of the week. But Happy Birthday to Mommy!

And this week started out normal, hanging out with Mom, playing with LEGO, riding my bike with Dad in the mornings...

Me and Mom.

...but then on Thursday Mom said she wanted to go somewhere. I got to have the iPad in the car, so I didn't really care where we were going. It was kind of a long car ride and we didn't even seem to be going anywhere special - just driving through the countryside. We stopped at a big farm that had some big horses hitched up to a wagon, and a little horse pulling a small buggy. Mom said she was going to ask about buying some jam and talked to someone outside of the car. And then we followed the little buggy down the road to a smaller farm.

Where are we going?

Mom got out an went into the barn; Dad and I waited in the car. Then Mom came back and said we should go into the barn, too. So we did. There were chickens and pigs and kittens and some puppies. That was really cool and I couldn't decide what to look at first - and then Mom and Dad said we were taking one of the puppies home. I was so excited I stopped talking.

Me and Dad with Indy before we left the farm.

Dad unfolded a blanket we put the pup in the car. He was pretty scared, but he liked having me pet him. I tried to make him feel better on the way home.

In the car with my new pup.

We made it home and showed Indy around the house.

Checking out Mom and Dad's bed.

Relaxing on his new pillow.

Who's a tired puppy?

This is a tired puppy.

On Friday we had time to play and read and watch a movie.

Having some fun in the yard.

Reading Dog Man to Indy.

Resting in the crate.

Watching Spaceballs and sharing the pillow.

And we got out and tried some walking...

Indy decided to attack Daddy's shoe.

Little pups tire quickly.

Indy slept a lot on Sunday, but we did get a good walk in and lots of play time in the backyard and in the house. And I read to Indy again.

Indy experimenting with one of his toys.

Having another run in the yard.

Reading another Dog Man book.

We are all happy to have a dog in the house again. Indy is a Great Pyrenees or maybe an Akbash - either way, he's going to be BIG, even bigger than Duke. We will probably have to get a bigger car so he will fit.

And even though this was a big week already, here are the flashback pictures.

2019: At the water park.

2018: At my first Saints game.

2017 #1: Riding the Royal Gorge Railway.

2017 #2: At Rocky Mountain National Park.

2016: Driving a tractor at one of Grandma Wynne's playdates.

2015: On the boat ride for Mommy's birthday.

2014: "Helping" Daddy wash the car.

2013: Having fun in my play tent.

2012: With Mommy at the indoor playground.

2011: The first cupcake Mom tried to have me eat - I held out for a few more years.

And that was our week. Stay safe, take care, and thanks for reading!
