Thursday morning we visited with Bob and rested up before going to see our first Spring Training game - the Phillies vs. the Rays. It was a beautiful day for a baseball game.
Just inside the park - ready for some baseball!
Go Rays!
Almost game time.
While the National Anthem was being sung, three guys jumped out of an airplane and landed on the field.
We had good seats - even better after the third inning when they were in the shade. Although, it was about in the third inning that the news came out the rest of spring training was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So, this ended up being the only game we saw - we did not get to see the Twins play the Pirates and the Mets.
Taking an ice cream break in the shade.
Back in our seats to watch some more home runs.
My new friend - even though he's a Yankees fan.
Shortly after that picture, we almost got a foul ball. One bounced over the fence along the baseline and Dad and I ran for it - but I fell down and hit the fence, the ball took a bad hop just before Dad could get to it - and some guy scooped it up. But some Rays workers saw what happened and grabbed a different game ball and gave it to me - that was nice.
Walking out.
I was pretty sad that there would be no more baseball games on our trip, but there was nothing we could do. On the upside, it meant we got to spend more time with Bob.
