North!

2016-08-28

If you recall, last week we left off looking at the Tall Ships. Let's pick up the story from there.

On Monday morning we toured a big boat.

Looking at the cargo hatches.

Looking down to the other end of the boat.

Capt. Henry takes the wheel.

Me on the boat.

Monday afternoon, we went for some new kinds of fun at a ski area with an alpine coaster.

Riding back to the top of the coaster.

Strapped in for one of our 20 rides.

Here's a video of someone else going down the coaster so you can see what it was like.

The zip line we rode a dozen times.

Imagining I am big enough to go down on my own.

Our day of fun ended when the tow line for the coaster stopped working and we got stuck on the way up the hill. I think Daddy was relieved, but I would have kept going for a few more hours.

Tuesday we took a boat ride and a train ride.

Eating breakfast in the hotel room.

On another boat - but this one moves.

Watching an ore boat get loaded.

Lunch at the grilled cheese shop. Yum!

One of the trains at the depot museum.

Looking into the firebox.

This is a big train!

Drivin' that train...

A crane like Harvey.

Train ride!

Very excited to be on a train.

So many old trains!

A new shirt.

Daddy got one, too.

Wednesday we hit the road to see some waterfalls and a lighthouse.

At the upper falls.

If this isn't nice, what is?

The middle falls.

The lower falls.

Looking out the lighthouse window - a nice breeze on a warm day.

This is the lighthouse.

Walking down the 175 steps to the lake.

The lighthouse from the lake.

Me and Daddy and the lighthouse.

LEGO lighthouse.

The cool rock I made Daddy carry up all the 175 steps up from the lake.

My souvenir flattened pennies.

Tossing rocks in the lake.

Me and Daddy going to get a shirt for Mommy.

Here we come...walking down the street...get the funniest looks from...everyone we meet...

Thursday morning we had breakfast at the revolving hotel restaurant, and hit the road to see where the river starts, on our way to see Bob and Jenn on the farm.

Checking out the mechanism of the revolving restaurant.

Looking at the city.

The river is so small here.

At the marker for the headwaters.

We made it across the rocks.

Me running around on the rocks, Daddy is in the middle of the river.

On the first bridge over the river.

Friday was our first day on the farm.

Planting flowers with Jenn.

Getting ready to move some flowers.

Getting the planter ready.

At the shed, taking the skid loader for a spin.

It's the new tractor with four tracks!

"Driving" the tractor.

This is a great tractor.

Bob and Jenn's fancy outhouse down by the boat.

In the afternoon, we got to ride along for the harvest. We rode in the grain trucks for a while, then the combine, then the grain cart. And after supper, we got to ride in the new tractor - but it was dark by then, so no pictures.

Watching the grain cart from the combine.

Watching the combine cut the grain.

Out in the field.

Time to ride in the truck again.

Saturday the harvest got started late in the afternoon - but got shut down by some rain moving in after about an hour or two. But it did give Daddy an opportunity to drive one of the grain trucks with me.

Playing with the broom in the shed - cleaning up some of the mess we made playing in the shed with the skid loader.

At the playground with Jenn.

Trying the monkey bars - but I really needed Daddy's help.

Sunday was nice, but not nice enough to get the wheat dry enough to combine. So we had fun around the house and on Bob and Jenn's boat.

In the lawnmower cart.

Me and Daddy playing with the golf cart and the lawnmower cart.

Riding with Daddy in the cart down to the boat.

On the boat with Bob and Jenn.

Steering the boat with Bob.

Me learning to drive the boat.

Me and Daddy on the boat.

Trying to make some work to do.

One last look at the new tractor.

Giving the tractor a hug goodbye.

Heading for the truck, one last time.

Well, that was my trip north. We stayed Sunday night and drove home Monday morning. Hope you enjoyed all the pictures.

Take care!
