Since you are all probably wondering: The MRI was on Wednesday and it was all clear. I have a normal, healthy, symmetrical brain with all the pieces in the right places and the right sizes with nothing extra or weird hanging around.
Now for the blog as usual:
I wasn't sick at all this week! I had lots of fun at daycare in the mornings and with Mommy in the afternoons and with Daddy at night. Here are a few pictures Mommy took this week:
Having a snack.
I think I'll read this one.
On Wednesday I had my MRI. Auntie Kara came down, even though we had a few inches of snow the day before (okay - we had ten inches, a few more than a few). Daddy woke me up at 3:30 AM so I could eat breakfast before 4 AM when I was supposed to start fasting. We watched The Lorax and played with my wooden building set. Then I was sleepy, so I took a nap. When I woke up, Auntie Kara was there and we had to get ready to leave. Auntie Kara sang songs with me on the drive to the hospital. We got to my appointment early so I had some time to investigate the waiting room.
Look at the fish, Auntie Kara.
See, Sheldon? Those are fish.
I wasn't too happy with the nurses and Daddy holding me down, but they managed to get their needles in me. The nurse who put in the IV for sedation was awesome! She got the needle in on the first try and really fast. It still hurt, so I still screamed. But it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
Mommy and Daddy warned the doctor I was a fighter. He didn't seem to believe them in the waiting room because I was being so good. But after he watched me kick and scream getting the IV put in, he bumped up the level of the sedation drug and knocked me out quick.
Under sedation, with Sheldon to watch over me.
I was out cold, so I don't remember the MRI. Mommy and Daddy were there when I woke up. We had to wait for a little while to make sure I was okay before they would let us leave. Once I drank some water, the nurse said we could go.
Since I hadn't eaten since 3:30 AM and it was nearly 1 PM, I was HUNGRY. We ate at a place Mommy and Daddy like, and I shared bread sticks with Daddy and had my own grilled cheese and fries. It was yummy.
At lunch with Daddy (Mommy and Kara were there, too).
After lunch we went to an ice cream place. Mommy got a cherry malt, like the last time we were there, and she let me try some.
Trying some cherry malt.
Did I like it?
Heck yeah!
Mommy and Kara kept taking the malt away from me. I guess they didn't want to share. On the way home, we sang Row Row Row Your Boat, which is my new favorite song that isn't in The Lorax.
At home I played with Auntie Kara and Mommy, then went to bed. It was a busy day.
I went to school on Thursday and had lots of fun. On Friday we went back to the hospital to talk to the doctor about my brain pictures. He said everything was okay and showed us all the pictures the machine took of my brain. We were all happy the pictures didn't show anything strange. The doctor said I'm supposed to try going off one of my medicines (Keppra) to see if the other one (Zarontin) will keep stopping my seizures all on its own. If I don't have anymore seizures for eighteen months, I get to do another EEG, and then try to take less medicine. If I have more seizures, I just stay on the medicine. The doctor also said there is a reasonable chance I'll stop having seizures before high school and I won't need to take any medicine after that.
After the appointment we went home, and then Daddy and I went to see Grandma Wynne and Grandpa Al. Mommy stayed home to get ready for having company on Saturday. Daddy and I played with Grandma for the night.
Grandpa was home Saturday morning, and we went shopping. Grandpa bought me some new LEGO sets and a Super Grover remote control that says all kinds of funny things. Grandpa wanted to buy me some other stuff, but Daddy wouldn't let him.
Daddy went home to help Mommy finish getting ready and I took a long nap.
Grandma Gail came to see me on Sunday morning. I was so excited to show her all of my cool toys. No one took any pictures on my camera, so I don't have any to share. In the afternoon, Daddy came back to get me and Duke. Uncle David also came to visit. He pushed me around in my dump truck! Grandpa did, too. Daddy was too lazy to get the camera, so no pictures of that, either.
I fell asleep on the way home, but I was awake to see Mommy when we got there. Since I didn't take a nap, I was a little over-tired and didn't go to bed very early.
That's all for the week. Take care.
