School, Hospital, and the State Fair

2012-09-04

Another big week for me.

On Monday I started school.

On my way to school with Mommy and Daddy.

Walking to the school building.

Having breakfast at school (Okay - I just chewed on the spoon and didn't actually eat anything).

I went to school on Tuesday as well. And then Tuesday night I started coughing and coughing and Mommy and Daddy took me to the emergency room. We saw Dr. M. like we usually do and he said I had croup. The nurse gave me a shot, then they blew some stuff that looked like smoke in my face and I was doing better. So we went home. No day care on Wednesday for me. Daddy stayed home with me and Mommy since he didn't get any sleep.

On Thursday I stayed home from school again, but Daddy went to work. Unfortunately I got sick again - this time I had trouble breathing. Mommy and Daddy took me to urgent care as soon as Daddy came home from work. The doctor there blew some more stuff like smoke in my face and I was better for a little bit. Then I had an x-ray and then the doctor thought I should maybe spend the night in the hospital.

The hospital has better cribs now than when I had pneumonia earlier this year.

Everything went well at the hospital and Dr. K. let me out Friday morning. But I still have to take lots of medicine for a few days. We were supposed to go to the State Fair on Friday and I was supposed to spend the weekend with Auntie Kara and Uncle Josh so Mommy and Daddy could have some fun without me - but that didn't look likely to happen anymore.

But I was good all day Friday and took my medicine and got better. And then I woke up at 4:45 Saturday morning and Mommy and Daddy decided we should try to go to the fair because I always feel better when we go have some fun. Plus, I would get some more sleep if we were driving somewhere.

I fell asleep on my books waiting for Mommy and Daddy to get ready.

We dropped Duke off at Grandma Wynne and Grandpa Al's house and went to meet Auntie Kara and Uncle Josh. I slept most of the way - I was tired.

We had lots of fun at the fair when we got there. And Auntie Kara took all the pictures.

Mommy was so happy I ate a couple pieces of cinnamon roll.

I found a truck like Grandpa's!

Inspecting the wheel.

Look at the motorcycle!

Me and my Daddy.

Mommy giving me a sip of 1919 Root Beer. Daddy wasn't mad because he had already given me a sip.

If there's a funny hat, you know Mommy will try it on.

The midway was really loud, but there were so many people and stuffed animals and rides spinning around - it was great! And Auntie Kara won me a giant giraffe, and Daddy won me a giant Scooby Doo, and everybody won little bears for me - all playing skeeball.

Midway prizes!

Taking a break in the shade with Uncle Josh.

Hey! He's trying to steal my Scooby!

"You should really invest in solar panels."

Me and my Mommy.

Since the morning at the fair went so well and I was feeling good, Auntie Kara and Uncle Josh deiced to watch me for the rest of the day and night. Mommy and Daddy stayed in a hotel and had a nice dinner and relaxed in a giant bed and slept all night without me to wake them up. But they also woke up early in the morning even though they didn't have to.

Here are some pictures from Auntie Kara and Uncle Josh's house:

Can I go up the stairs again?

Are you sure I can't go up the stairs again?

What if I steal your wallet and run, Uncle Josh?

Sitting at the big people table.

Sunday morning we met Mommy and Daddy for brunch and then we went to buy me a DUPLO train set. The mall was very, very busy, and we looked around at some stuff - but all we bought was my train set.

We were going to go home, but we ended up spending the night at Grandma Wynne and Grandpa Al's house because Mommy and Daddy were tired and Grandpa Al wanted to play with me since he had the day off. We went home Monday morning instead.

And I think you'll agree that was a busy week for me. And Mommy and Daddy. I'm feeling mostly better now, so hopefully I can get in a full week at school. Hope you enjoyed the pictures. See you next time!
