Syttende Mai

2012-05-21

Mommy and I had fun at home this week, and she made cookies for Daddy and some cupcakes to practice for Michael's graduation party in a few weeks.

Cupcakes

More cupcakes.

On Saturday we went to a Syttende mai festival. One building at the festival had lots of Norwegian food, so Mommy tried to get me to eat some...

NO MOMMY! I don't want any lefse!

We also talked to a nice man who baked some almond cake that Mommy bought - she thinks it is fabulous. She tried to get me to eat some, but I spit it out. Since I don't like anything sweet, Mommy and Daddy joked about entering me in the lutefisk eating contest. Fortunately I am a vegetarian.

We walked around the town and watched part of a Kubb tournament and looked at booths people had set up to sell their crafts.

Daddy, I want to look at my truck book.

There were some fireman spraying hoses at a barrel strung up on a cable. We watched for a while and got wet from the spray.

Water fight!

Wait. If there are firemen, there must be a fire truck. Look Daddy! A fire truck!

Me and Daddy by the fire truck.

After the fire truck we had lunch in a little cafe - I had grilled cheese, pickles, beets, and some french fries. We walked down the main street and watched people getting ready for the parade and looked in some shops. Mommy and Daddy had ice cream - I didn't want any. Then we went to wait for the parade, but it was too hot, even in the shade. I was trying to tell Mommy and Daddy it was too hot for me but it took forever for them to catch on. I fell asleep once we were in the car with the air conditioning on.

I overheard later that Mommy and Daddy got lost on some country roads and took a long detour to get home. I missed all that because I was asleep.

That was about all the excitement for this week. Take care, everyone!
