I Am One

2012-01-22

This was my Birthday Week!

For those of you who don't know already, I went to see the neurologist on Wednesday and he said that my brain is fine. The six-hour EEG didn't show anything to be concerned about. I haven't had an episode for almost a month now, so hopefully we won't have to worry about it any more.

Mommy and Daddy spent a lot of time getting ready for all the guests - and then we had a snow storm and lots of people couldn't come. Sorry we missed seeing all of you - but don't worry, I plan on having more birthday parties in the future. I might not even wait a whole year to have another one.

Me playing with Grandma Gail before my party started.

Cupcakes for the guests...

...and a banana cake for me!

Mommy with my cake - it's on fire Mommy, be careful!

Everyone is staring at me. Guess I'll investigate the cake.

This cake is very smooshy.

Ugh. It stuck to my hand. Now I suppose I'll have to taste it.

I don't think I like this.(Daddy told me to say that the cake was actually very good, and wanted me to remind everyone that I like formula, which tastes awful.)

I didn't like the second taste much better than the first.

My first bite of ice cream...

...that's not really a winner, either. And it's cold! What gives?

Can I have some real food now?

After the cake, it was time to open some presents. I prefer to play with stuff rather than open it, so I had Mom, Dad, and Isaac help me tear open my gifts.

Opening some gifts - I'm already chewing on my new ball.

Say...this box looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Another truck!

Me and my new truck. It's a car carrier.

Me with Great-grandma Dorothy, Uncle David, and Grandpa Al.

Playing with cousin Yulia.

As an extra special bonus, here are some pictures Uncle Neil took during the party that I think turned out really good:

I had so much fun seeing everyone and playing with the other kids and my new toys - so much fun I went to be early and slept for almost sixteen hours straight through.

And then it was my actual birthday!

Auntie Kara and Uncle Josh spent the night so they could spend my birthday with me!

Here I am in my new sweater - aren't I cute? You can't see it in the picture, but the sweater has leather patches on the elbows. (Thanks Matt and Jenny! Sorry you couldn't make it.)

Looking out the window. Hey Duke! I think I see Buckles!

Do you see Buckles, Duke? False alarm.

Yes, I know I tricked the dog.

For my Birthday Adventure we went to a toy store. And Mom and Auntie Kara had me try on funny hats...

Prince Cheeseburger.

Henry Tut.

Saddle up, pilgrim!

This is Uncle Sam's hat? I didn't know I had an Uncle Sam.

Riding on Daddy's shoulders.

The toy store had something amazing - and it wasn't toy!

Henry: Daddy? Is that what I think it is?
Llama: -sniff- -sniff- ...food?

Henry: Daddy! It's a LLAMA!
Llama: -sniff- -sniff- ...no food...

Henry: Daddy! The LLAMA IS SNIFFING MY HAND!
Llama: -sniff- -sniff- ...no food...

Henry: Daddy, that's a llama.
Llama: ...

After we made first contact with the llama, we went on a carousel ride. It was fun at first, but then I started to get dizzy. I toughed it out and managed to finish the ride.

Me and Mommy riding in the ostrich cart.

Posing with the wolf.

As if all that wasn't enough - then we went out for lunch!

Auntie Kara fed me while the big people were waiting for their food to arrive.

You have teeth, too!

Snacking on some banana puffs - my current favorite food.

And that was the week. Now I am one!

Thank you so much to everyone who came to my house to celebrate and thank you again to everyone who gave me presents. I got a lot of cool stuff I've already been playing with and some cold hard cash as well. Mom and Dad are going to make me save most of the money for later (phooey! I wanted to buy llama for the backyard). I get to spend some of the money on a passport - but apparently it will only get me into museums.

If you couldn't make it - we missed you! Hopefully we'll get to see you all soon.

Take care everyone!
