Road Trip

2011-02-27

This week started out slow - no visitors, no doctor appointments, no trips to the store, no walks, but on Thursday life got busy again.

Grandma Wynne and Grandpa Al came over with Great-grandma Dorothy and Great-uncle Bill. They came for an afternoon to see me and to take Duke to home with them, since me and Mom and Dad were going away for the weekend.

Great-uncle Bill holding me. I'm wrapped in my new blanket that Marie made for me.

Grandma Wynne and Grandpa Al holding me.

Grandpa Al looks pretty happy holding me. He doesn't call me a baby, he says I am a man-cub.

Great-grandma Dorothy holding me again. She was worried that some dog hair from her coat would get on me. She must have forgotten I live with Duke. Great-grandma's coat had less hair on it than anything in my house....

Grandma Wynne feeding me a bottle. I'm helping.

On Friday, after Dad finished work, we drove to see my Mom's side of the family. It was a long drive, and we had to stop to change me and feed me along the way. I gave Mom a demonstration of restroom acoustics when she put on my new diaper. The temperature was in the single digits outside, so Mom bundled me up good - too good. I was sweating. I had to scream for a few miles before they pulled some of the layers off so I could be comfortable enough to go to sleep. Otherwise, the trip went well.

Once we arrived at Great-grandma Muriel's house, I got to meet Great-grandpa Les for the first time. He was watching television in the kitchen and me and Dad surprised him by sneaking around behind him and jumping into his line of sight. He had a good laugh about that. And a few minutes after meeting Great-grandpa Les, I got to meet Grandpa Kevin.

Me and Great-grandpa Les. He sure likes babies.

Me and Grandpa Kevin - he was still a little groggy from waking up, but I'm used to big people who are half asleep.

The next day we went to see more new people. Great-grandma Joan and Great-grandpa Eldon live very close to Great-grandma Muriel and Great-grandpa Les, so we went to see them, and even more people showed up: Great-uncle Ross, Great-aunt Cindy, Cousin Liza, and Cousin Sydney.

Great-grandma Joan was so happy to see me she looked like she was going to burst.

Great-grandma Joan was excited to show me off to Great-grandpa Eldon.

Me and Great-grandpa Eldon - Great-grandma reluctantly gave me up for a few minutes.

Mom and me with Great-grandma Joan.

Great-aunt Cindy snatched me away from Great-grandma as soon as she walked in.

Here I am with Cindy and cousin Sydney.

Here I am with Sydney and Liza.

Eventually Ross could wait no longer to tell me some important things, so he scooped me up and filled me on how life works. I listened attentively.

Sydney decided to come over and visit with us - she really likes babies.

Before we left, Sydney wanted to hold me by herself again.

We had a nice long visit. Dad was happy Great-grandma Joan made chocolate cake for him to eat (Mom even let him have three pieces!). Mom and Dad also took most of the afternoon and evening off from holding me, since there were so many ready hands to do the job.

We are still staying with Great-grandma Muriel and Great-grandpa Les and Grandma Gail and Grandpa Kevin. We'll be headed home in the morning for routine check-up for me with my doctor. And Mom only has one week left before she goes back to work - then Dad will be home with me during the days until October (if everything goes according to plan).

Here's a picture of just me - I didn't get many solo pictures the week, what with so many people lining up to hold me.
